Notary Requirements

If you’ve never been a Notary in the state of Florida:
  1. You must first qualify to become a Florida Notary:
    • You must be at least 18 years old.
    • You must be a resident of Florida.

    If you qualify, the first step you must take is to obtain a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION from the mandatory three-hour course. The course is free, and you take it online. It enables you to set up your own account. The course may be completed in small increments.

    To obtain access to the free online Notary course, visit: http://notaries.dos.state.fl.us.

    Upon completion of the three-hour course you will take a 20-question quiz. You can then print a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.

  2. The next step is the APPLICATION AND BOND FORM. The forms may be obtained online, fax or email. Be sure all information is provided and complete. Original signature is needed on all documents.

  3. Attach the Certificate of Completion to the Application and Bond Form and send a payment to:
